Peter Reynolds Watch The Leader of CLEAR | Cannabis Law Reform

Yesterday I blogged about how Peter Reynolds had upset overseas cannabis activists and that he lied about being in regular contact with Rick Simpson.
Those familiar with the sorry saga of the joke that is Peter Reynolds, leader of CLEAR, will be fully aware he not averse to telling porky pies or hyperbole.
For example, Reynolds claimed to have worked for Saatchi and Saatchi, a renowned London based global advertising agency, but they had never heard of him.
Reynolds claimed to have written a regular column for the Independent Newspaper, but it turns out he only wrote 2 pieces, hardly regular. He also claimed to have submitted a report to the UK parliament back in 1983 entitled “Unaffordable Prejudice”, yet a Freedom of Information Request asking about this replied that they “have no records of Peter Reynolds writing to the Home Affairs Committee in 1983 on cannabis laws.”
You getting the picture here folks, are you seeing a pattern?
CLEAR have been trying to make a big splash about the fact they are finally going to field a candidate in an election with the announcement Peter Reynolds is to stand in the forthcoming Corby by-election, a decision that has so far attracted nothing but ridicule for der Führer and finally interest in him from the national press (before he was considered too small fry).
On 6th September Reynolds announced on the CLEAR web site he’d gone to Bristol to see Prof. David Nutt give his lecture “Science and non-science in alcohol and drugs policy”.
It was all a cozy affair with free tea and biscuits and Reynolds says he claimed himself a front row seat.
After heaping on the praise, Reynolds writes how he introduced himself to Prof. Nutt as a politician, announcing he is standing as a candidate in the Corby by-election.
Reynolds boasts how he ”had the opportunity to approach David and discuss how me might work together on the Corby election campaign.”
Reynolds continues: “I can say no more at present but we hope to have something exciting to announce within a few weeks. More immediately, HP and David very generously agreed that I could distribute a few hundred CLEAR leaflets around the audience.”
This prompted Jeff Ditchfield to ask on Prof. Nutt’s Facebook wall: “Is this true David? I am sure that it is just more lies from Reynolds as I cannot see a man of your character endorsing or working with a person like him but can you please clarify the situation David? “
A stream of comments followed asking for further clarification from Prof. Nutt.
Cannabis Truth writes: “Peter Reynolds is a megalomaniac who bans/censors any dissent and has no regard for CLEAR’s own constitution (Still no AGM?) – the despot of Clear has offended many with his right-wing, ignorant and sweeping prejudices… and that’s not mentioning the myriad other scandals, including threatening medical Cannabis patients with police action without any grounds. This man does not represent the majority of Cannabis Consumers in the UK… far from it, we are extremely embarrassed of him and his actions. For the sake of your credibility David I’d have nothing more to do with this guy and his “politics”
A few days passed, with no comment from Prof. Nutt, to be fair he probably has a life and doesn’t check his Facebook every day. Anyway, this afternoon Prof. Nutt responded on the thread: This is incorrect, my team are addressing it
I checked CLEAR’s web site and the offending comment had already been removed. No mention of working with Prof. Nutt. Google hadn’t cached the update yet, so I was able to get a screenshot of the original page.

Phew, there was as much truth in this as there was in Reynolds’ claim he is in “regular and frequent contact” with Rick Simpson, a claim Reynolds removed himself when he realised who the people were he was making this false statement to.
You have to laugh though, when Peter Reynolds claims to be working with Prof. David Nutt and Rick Simpson, people immediately smell a rat and start asking questions, yet when a spoof press release is released claiming Reynolds is working with Nick Griffin of the BNP, many people believed it was the truth. You have to ask yourself Pete, why is that?
So, yet again, Peter Reynolds is proved to be a liar.
How ironic that his words “there is a huge groundswell of public opinion in Britain that will no longer put up with the lies and deceit that we’ve been fed by successive governments”
are now seen by many supporters of cannabis use legalisation in the UK to read:
“there is a huge groundswell of public opinion in Britain that will no longer put up with the lies and deceit that we’ve been fed by Peter Reynolds”
Peter Reynolds has consistently proven that he is (to quote his own favourite expression) “nothing more than a mendacious troll.”
Fortunately for the UK cannabis legalisation campaign, there is a viable alternative to the lies and hyperbole that Mr. Reynolds keeps on spurting out.
It’s called NORMLUK and comes highly recommended by probably the majority of HERBAL cannabis campaigners (as opposed to patented cannabis pharm patch campaigners) in the UK.

Thanks for this well written article John. Its shows that PR has no initiative on his own, no political nous or any intentions of developing any ideas. everything about this chap, from hijacking the LCA, its funds and members, to todays increase in membership his homophobic rants and off the cuff remarks about ME politics he does not understand much, leads one to belief that we are dealing with an imposter who is keeping us all divided.
By all means lets unite behind NORML and ACHA, but lets not forget that should/when we become political again, that we have to eschew the whole agenda not just ours and be seen to be fair and open to our own scrutiny, as well as the publics.
I’m gald that Prof. Nutt has not sided with anyone, he is an Independent after all who is interested in the issue, its resolve and health matters.
U question Reynolds about this , to see his response. And his response was ……. Obviously not. This is nothing but lies and abuse.

Thankfully we have so many people keeping an eye on things. Reynolds is an embarrassment to himself and the community. Two, very good friends, who both stood for election as LCA candidates won’t even mention his name!
Reynolds is a complete cock and a racist bigot,No quarter should be given to those that espouse the kind of bullshit he does.Racism and bigotry need to be confronted not swept under the carpet to fester and grow.because that way is no better than soft racism.Its all very well saying ignore the dick,but I for one refuse to have that dick say that he “represents me as a cannabis consumer in the UK.While he is trying his damnedest to implement a pro corp policy which allows no freedom to grow your own,but he and his backers no doubt hope to make a quick buck out of the so called “cabbage patch” that his backers have lined up and patented for distribution in the UK. Thanks for highlighting this, I have much respect for Professor Nutt, so it’s with much reassurance that he is not working with someone worthy of such little respect as PR. I’m glad Nutt made it CLEAR that PR has fabricated his version of events and that they are completely false because not that he needs much help in the matter but once again PR has been shown to be the Moronic imbecile he is, delusions of grandeur anyone?
So glad I found this blog before donating to CLEAR! This guy is a nut.
