On Tuesday 4th September, the following spoof article appeared on JustPasteIt.com:

The spoof article soon went viral on Facebook, with some people believing it was real, even though it was posted on the free web sharing service Just Paste It.
As with most satire, the story was not entirely without foundation and it is not that surprising some people were taken in by it, given some of the material Peter Reynolds had previously posted on his own web site, such as this highly racist and offensive blog ….
or this extremely homophobic blog entry by Reynolds …
or this anti-Semitic blog where he has a pop at Jewish people calling them evil Jews …
or another racist blog where it seems Peter Reynolds has a problem with people of Pakistani origin …
or this blog complaining about people who don’t like the far-right BNP and half-hearted endorsement of Nick Griffin …

Satire and the lampooning of politicians and people in public life has been a long held British tradition. Many people thought the spoof press release was hilarious and it was widely shared on Facebook.
However, our sources tell us one person who didn’t find it at all amusing was der Führer of CLEAR himself, Peter Reynolds, who actually reported anybody who shared the article to his local police. Yes, that’s right, he actually called the police on people for sharing a satirical piece of comedy taking the piss out of him.
It would be like former British Prime Minister, John Major, reporting Private Eye to the police for taking the mickey in their Adrian Mole style fake diary, the Secret Diary of John Major Aged 47 3/14 or Spitting Image getting grassed up for being mean to Sir David Steel. Can you imagine it? It’s absolutely ludicrous.
One such person who was grassed up to the police by Peter Reynolds for hitting the share button on Facebook was medicinal marijuana user and NORML UK founding member, Tina Mendes. The following is a screenshot of an email sent to Tina Mendes from Peter Reynolds and CC’d to Detective Constable Tim Lainsbury of the Dorset Police.

We heard of other people who received similar emails from Reynolds, including an cannabis related internet forum who emailed him asking if the story was true. He replied to them he was reporting the forum to the police for the publishing the following thread http://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-forum/showthread.php?79164-Peter-Reynolds-the-TRUTH&p=1069252840
I know; you couldn’t make it up.
Fortunately satire and lampooning of public figures, such as Peter Reynolds, is not illegal in the UK.
No doubt Reynolds threatened the hosts JustPasteIt with bogus legal action and scared them into taking the funny spoof article down, however, we are pleased to say we suspected he might do that, so we took a copy while it was still up and here it is preserved for all to see. We should like to point out that Nick Griffin has also denied all claims in the press release telling Peter Reynolds Watch: “Following the Court ruling that forced us to accept non-white members, the BNP are an all inclusive party and there’s no way we would want to be associated with such a dubious character as Peter Reynolds who has such extreme views.”
THE British National Party have announced they will not be fielding a candidate in the forthcoming CORBY by-election, standing aside to make way for Peter Reynolds of Cannabis Law Reform (CLEAR).

The BNP party leader said: “We recognise the views and values held by Peter Reynolds are compatible with those of the British National Party.
“It might be the case that the BNP wants to re-introduce the death penalty for cannabis dealers, however, aside from this minor policy difference, Mr Reynolds and the BNP very much sing from the same hymn sheet,” said Mr Griffin.
“We are delighted to throw our support behind a right wing candidate that puts Britain first and shares our views on immigration and homosexuality.”
Asked whether it could be damaging to the BNP to back a candidate like Peter Reynolds who has published controversial racist blogs in the past, Mr Griffin said: “It’s utter nonsense to claim Peter Reynolds is a racist, his best mate is a jet black Jamaican. Peter, like myself, is not a racist, we just believe we are isolated in our own country and there are too many of them.
“Complaining there is barely a white face to be seen in London is not racist, nor is calling gay people perverts homophobic,” added Mr Griffin “which is why the BNP are glad to give full backing to Peter Reynolds and CLEAR in the Corby by-election.”
“Realistically, we do not want to risk splitting the far right vote, that’s why the BNP have formed this alliance with CLEAR,” said Nick Griffin.

Mr Reynolds has confirmed that in other elections CLEAR will not field candidates where to do so could damage the chances of the BNP.
“We are still different political parties that are working together on areas where we agree on such as immigration to get a better deal for Britain and stand up for white people, that’s grown-up politics,” said Mr Reynolds.
“Nick Griffin is a man I can work with and I look forward to a long and fruitful working relationship between CLEAR and the BNP.”
