Global Cannabis Research Group drops CLEAR

Reynolds and CLEAR dropped like a hot potato

Author: Kevin John Braid

Earlier this month, a number of cannabis activists were alarmed to discover an article on CLEAR’s web site calling for cannabis cultivators to take part in a growers survey.

Cannabis consumers and growers were obviously very concerned that CLEAR, an organisation headed by a self-confessed police informer, Peter Reynolds, who has grassed up medicinal cannabis users to the police, were apparently associated with a survey asking for such sensitive information.

Peter Reynolds Watch always likes to give people the right of reply, so before putting out a warning that Reynolds the grass was asking for information from cannabis growers in the UK, I personally contacted the head of the UK survey, Dr Gary Potter, to ask for his side of the story.

I told Dr Potter of my concerns that he appeared to be running a survey in association with CLEAR and explained to him about Reynolds’ homophobic, racist and antiSemitic blog posts and I told him Reynolds’ proven track record of reporting medicinal cannabis users, including myself, to the police.

Dr Potter quickly replied, asking me to hold off from publishing anything, explaining he was not aware of Reynolds’ reputation and he very much regretted any involvement with the man. He assured me Reynolds had no directed involvement with the survey and promised a full statement denouncing Peter Reynolds.

This was good news, as I suspected Dr Potter had no idea about the toxic reputation of Peter Reynolds, so I emailed him back saying I looked forward to his reply.

As promised, earlier this evening Dr Potter wrote back with a full denunciation of Peter Reynolds and disassociation with both CLEAR and UKCIA, another questionable organisation headed by Reynolds’ right hand man, Derek Williams.

Dr Potter makes it clear, excuse the pun, Reynolds approached them, not the other way round and he was not aware of the history of Peter Reynolds.

He states he did not know of the involvement of Reynolds’ henchman, Derek Williams, and that as soon as his name came up he realised how problematic it was for them to be associated with CLEAR in anyway.

In his statement, Dr Potter says: “Given the various, very serious, allegations, we very much regret having any association with CLEAR and we renounce our connections with them.”

I’d like to thank Dr Potter for taking our concerns seriously, I know I was not the only person to raise the serious issue of a police informer like Peter Reynolds being associated with a survey about cannabis cultivation and the grave consequences that could follow if this information ended up in the wrong hands.

Following the assurances from Dr Potter the survey is completely anonymous and his statement denouncing Peter Reynolds, I am happy to endorse the GCCRC international survey. I am satisfied IP addresses are not kept and that the sensitive data concerning illegal cannabis cultivation is not going to get into the hands of Reynolds the grass.

The survey can be found online here at http://worldwideweed.nl/uk/ – the data is encrypted and IP addresses are not held; of course to be extra secure, you could always fill it in using the TOR Browser, which hides your IP address.

This web site is all about exposing Peter Reynolds and we are delighted to have played a part in alerting the Global Cannabis Cultivation Research Consortium the truth about this vile and despicable man. Let this be a reminder to Reynolds we are watching him 24/7, 365 and will not stop until he is but a bad memory.

  1. I wonder if Dr. Gary Potter was aware, when performing his survey, that Cannabis in the UK is still legally Class C and not Class B as so many people have claimed.
For anyone interested in seeing this for themselves, I direct your attention to the “Drugs (Reclassification) Bill 2007/8” which is to reclassify Cannabis From Class C To Class B, but has not yet passed into Law.
If you Google “drugs classification bill 2007” then you should be given a link to the Home Office’s website and the info on this Bill. As it stands, it remains at stage C, known as the Committee Stage, in the House of Commons. It has not gone through all the House of Commons reviews, nor through the House of Lords, nor to Royal Assent and thusly, not into Law.

Strange how many News broadcasters, MPs, PMs, Home Secretaries, Police Officers and Judges seem to think it’s Class B already when it clearly is not. Strategic financial gain from coordinated conspiracy of BS and disinformation, or just over-confident incompetence? Who knows?

  2. Another excellent article. It is good you care enough about people, to research matters on the public’s behalf. Good on you!
