All Hail the King of the Chavs!

Peter Reynolds thinks the BBC is staffed by “chavs”.  Have a look.

Peter hates it when lower class people fail to show the proper respect to authority.  He believes in the power of the British Crown.  He thinks that people should bow and curtsy to the Queen as she passes by.  In general, he seems to be fond of wood panels and green felt.  He likes the whole old-world feel, with luxurious locations exclusive to important people.

Here he is pretending to be a special kind of somebody, tagging along with his son to some event law students are invited to.  Note the wood panelling.  It’s all so dreamy.  He must have felt like he stumbled into a fairy tale.  Knights of yore, pip pip, and all that traditionally hackneyed bullshit that people abroad generally associate with Britain.

Who is Peter Reynolds really, though?  Is he upper crust?  Is he the sort of man who knows which of seventy five forks one eats a single overcooked stalk of asparagus with?  Hardly.

This is the man who has the audacity to call all those freshly showered, nicely dressed people at the BBC “chavs”.  This dirtbag, who is proud of his alcoholism and cocaine use, thinks he is better than all these productively employed folks.  This guy, who has no discernible form of employment, a “journalist” who has no byline anywhere and no publication other than a wordpress blog, thinks he is above the class stature of professional journalists.

Say what you will about the BBC, they are a propaganda tool of the British government, no doubt.  That being said, the people pictured here are clean, professional and dignified.  They also happen to work somewhere that the Queen saw fit to go to. The only time Peter manages to scrape together that image is for a photo shoot that he paid for out of CLEAR donation funds.

If anybody in the equation is a “chav” then it is Peter Reynolds.  For a man with a history of fraud convictions, domestic violence charges, and a completely fraudulent employment history, to call these people low class is endlessly amusing.  It’s a fantastic joke.  Peter is to the upper class what balloons are to space travel; there is simply no connection to be found.

It is oddly inappropriate for his position.  CLEAR as a protest party and they are at best that, is set against the status quo.  It is set in opposition to regal authority and the ways of the past.  Cannabis prohibition is a throwback of the repressive attitudes of the upper class which marginalized people on the basis of race and class.  Licking the Queen’s ass so flagrantly is itself in opposition to the very notion of fighting prohibition.  It is her class and her society which maintains prohibition in the first place.

Ultimately, if you want to fight the status quo, you have to start by saying people are free to refuse the authority ostensibly granted by God upon the Queen.  To say yes to cannabis is to say no to the Queen, and everything her illegitimate claim to power represents.
